Meet your new favorite FET compressor
Terrific on bass guitars, kicks, vocals, parallel processing, buses and more, the 1176 is one of the most iconic limiters of all time for good reason. With the MC77 you have access to the same unrivaled tone and lightning-fast response as the original 1176, with the added bonus of onboard sidechaining, stereo linking, and more.
A legend reborn
How do you take a legendary compressor like the 1176 and not only do it justice, but improve on it? This was the vision behind the MC77, created by Purple Audio in the late nineties. It all started with an exacting recreation of the “E” revision of one of the most iconic solid-state limiting amplifiers of all time. From there, impeccable high-performance components were used to match the unit to the original, while adding modern features to its all-discrete signal path.
Classic dynamics in the 21st Century
The MC77 employs Field Effect Transistor (FET) technology for gain reduction allowing for large amounts of limiting without introducing severe distortion. Its remarkably quick attack time, flexible release, four ratios and multi-button modes allow the MC77 to deliver everything from well mannered and transparent dynamics to full-on brick wall stopping power.
Brainworx ‘sweetens the pot’
The Brainworx team didn’t stop after finishing this pristine emulation from the ground up. They added TMT technology to provide many different analog units of the MC77 in one plugin. Use it to perfect your stereo field with its onboard M/S mode, monomaker and stereo width control. Get perfect gain staging without changing your levels thanks to the headroom knob, tailor the compressors response with integrated sidechain filters, and achieve instant parallel processing with the mix control.
