Join Logic Pro expert Stephen O’Connell for a fun, informative video course on building your own instruments using Logic Pro’s built-in samplers! You’ll learn a ton and have a blast getting creative in new, inspiring ways—not to mention ending up with sounds and instruments that are uniquely your own. By the end of the course, you’ll be ready to start designing your own custom instruments for your very next production with sounds that can truly set your tracks apart from the crowd. Your imagination is the limit! These videos are designed for Logic Pro users that are new to using samplers.

Stephen welcomes you and provides a short overview of what will be covered in the series, highlighting the three samplers we’ll be using—Quick Sampler, Drum Machine Designer, and Sampler—all of which are included in Logic Pro. Then Stephen gets down to it, starting first with Quick Sampler, covering the layout of its interface and explaining its capabilities. You’ll learn how to load samples and play them back in various modes (Classic, One Shot, Slicing) to achieve different sounds and effects. You’ll also see how to record a sound directly into Quick Sampler itself with its built-in recorder.

Next, Stephen covers the many ways you can tweak the sound of your sample, including the pitch parameter, filter, amp envelope, LFO, mod matrix, and more. Taken together, these components have the capability to render your sample nearly unrecognizable should you choose to do so! You’ll then see how you can add effects to your sample to enhance the sound even further.

There’s much more to come as well, including the Drum Machine Designer (creating your own kit with samples, stacking samples, adding a virtual instrument to a drum pad, resampling a pad, adding a built-in effect, etc.) and the incredibly powerful Sampler (layering several samples and assigning them to different velocities and keys, grouping the samples for better organization or for affecting several samples at once, using the synth, mod matrix, and modulator controls, saving your instrument, etc.).

Designing your own sampler instruments is not only a great way to break out of a creative rut, but it’s a skill you can use throughout your musical journey to continually sound fresh and unique. With this course, you’ll learn all you need to know to get started using Logic Pro’s own included samplers. See the individual Logic Pro Sampler video tutorial descriptions for more information on all that’s included in the course and ideas on how you can implement these techniques in your own tracks. You’ll rarely have as much fun learning something so usable. Take command of your sound… Watch “Building Instruments with Logic Pro Samplers” now!
