Cinematic Studio Strings v1.5.0 Lite Version KONTAKT
06 July 2021 | KONTAKT | 8.32GB
This is a light version of the Cinematic Studio Strings library. The library features a 35-piece string section with 10 first violins, seven second violins, seven violas, six cellos and five basses. The sound of the library is lush and somewhat dark and the vibrato is quite heavy. The library comes with a list of essential articulations and has an emulated con sordino, which can be applied on top of most other articulations. The library has one of the best-sounding and most expressive legatos in the business. The engine provides three speeds for a variety of transitions. Though it has a learning curve, the results are great. The library excels at softer cinematic pieces, though it could work in more epic compositions as well. Overall, a great library with a good list of features and some of the best legatos!
Following changes were made to the library:
1. The “Mix” and “Room” mic sample groups were removed. The default Mix isn’t that great and the Room mic position doesn’t add too much value to the library, and can be easily replaced by a reverb. The included “Close” and “Main” mic positions allow for a great deal of flexibility while preserving the sound of the hall the strings were recorded in as well.
2. The samples in the original release were in 24-bit 48kHz format. The samples were converted to 16-bit 48kHz and repacked into NKX containers. A null test results in a peak of -85dB, which won’t be audible at all. Also, after quite some testing, no issues were found with noise floor build-up when playing lots of notes. The conversion process takes the size down to 8.32GB from the original 32.1GB, which is a 74% reduction!
However, one of the unfortunate results of the changes is that the Ensemble patches are no longer functional, and there are no real workarounds to solve this issue.
NOTE: Kontakt v5.8.0 or higher is required. This library does not work with legit full version of Kontakt and k’d Kontakt is necessary to use this library.
