Ladies and Gentlemen, the reviews are in! Over the past couple of weeks since the release of our Sphere 1.5 software update, several reviewers have put the Sphere plug-in through its paces. From big YouTube channels like Podcastage to personal shout-outs from customers – we’re flattered by them all. We’re particularly thrilled about the Sphere 1.5 reviews focused on voice-over and vocal recording because that’s exactly the market we had hoped this update would resonate with.

Here are our Sphere 1.5 review highlights:

Podcastage
Bandrew Scott of the YouTube channel Podcastage is known and loved for his incredibly detailed and thorough reviews. Here’s his full review of the Sphere L22 with the latest Sphere 1.5 software. He also compares the L22 against some of the mics we’ve modeled, such as the Neumann U67, U87 Ai, and Shure SM7b.

“I love having that control and versatility. For spoken word, I absolutely love this thing. It’s so cool having access to all these microphones that you wouldn’t typically use for spoken word. Who in their right mind would use an M49 for spoken word? Well, you get to use it and that’s super fun. You get a lot of versatility and then you have the classics that everybody uses for spoken word. You can do so much cool stuff and get the exact right tone for your spoken word.” – Bandrew Scott (Podcastage)

If that wasn’t enough, Bandrew also decided to go through the trouble of demonstrating every single mic model that is part of the Sphere Collection. Watch the video below and use the timestamps to jump to the model you’d like to audition.

Jordan Reynolds
Jordan Reynolds is an extremely talented voice-over artist, music enthusiast, tech geek, and audio ninja. Some of you may know his amazing YouTube channel, where he shares lots of great advice on how to best record your own voice and how to improve your recording space. Here’s his wonderfully detailed review of the Sphere L22 for voiceover applications. Find out if the Sphere L22 might be the only voiceover mic you’ll ever need.

“In short, if there is a model of a mic that I want in the Townsend package, I would never buy the original mic. For the price of this mic, the value you get is insane. It’s one of the most innovative pieces of audio tech that I have seen in a very long time.” – Jordan Reynolds

Danny Brown / ZndBorn
LA-based mixing engineer Danny Brown has had the Sphere L22 for a while, but the added value of the Sphere 1.5 update simply blew him away. Among all the Sphere 1.5 reviews, his video also shines with the most unique intro.

“This is the update that you want. This might be the thing that catapults them and solidifies them as top-tier #1 in microphone emulation. This is exactly why I started this YouTube channel. This might just be the one and only microphone you need. Hands down!” – Danny Brown

Pro Tools / Production Expert Podcast
The fine Gentlemen at Production Expert (also known as Pro Tools Expert) started reporting on Sphere 1.5 even before the release when the IsoSphere patent first became public. In addition to sharing the news about the new Sphere software, Mike Thornton, Julian Rodgers, and Emma Butt talk about Sphere’s post-production potential in their podcast. With included models such as the 416, the Sphere L22 is becoming a serious option for ADR recording. The podcast was actually taped just before the release of the Sphere 1.5 update, but it’s easy to hear how the Pro Tools editors are excited about our new technology and what it might mean for the post community.

“I think for games and audiobook work, certainly this could be a big thing. It’s going to save a lot of time on the other end as well.” – Emma Butt
